Position Summary
The Director of Organization Development and Change (ODC) is a highly experienced OD and Change practitioner leader responsible for creating, overseeing, executing and evaluating organization development, change and effectiveness strategies for clinical, research, education and corporate services throughout NYU Langone Health. The Director of ODC reports to the vice president of Organization Development and Learning {ODL) and manages a seasoned team of ~10 FTEs.
Job Responsibilities
- Engage and partner with senior leaders and key stakeholders in organizational assessment, design, development and effectiveness initiatives associated with advancing the system's strategic priorities
- Oversee various forms of diagnostic assessment at the organizational, departmental, team and individual levels
- Oversee, and deliver when needed, strategic and programmatic planning, and research-based and practical organization development initiatives and interventions at the system, organization and local level, aligned with organizational culture, mission and vision
- Oversee development of organization's change leadership capacity
- Oversee development, acquisition and integration of research- and practice-based tools, resources and training to build change leadership and management capability throughout the organization
- Develop and execute strategy for employee experience, aligned with organizational strategy for patient experience
- Support the implementation of enterprise-wide engagement surveys; oversee team's work with departmental and unit leaders to develop strategies and plans to improve employee experience
- Align ODC efforts with those of the learning and leadership development team; collaborate and share resources across ODL teams as appropriate and needed
- Support broader HR team efforts, as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- At least ten years experience in the field, with at least five of these years leading a team of experienced OD and change practitioners in a complex organization
- Strong background in and superior knowledge of ODC theory and practice, and a broad range of evidence-based OD and change interventions
- MBA or Master's Degree in OD, Organizational Behavior/Psychology, Change Leadership or a related field required. Doctorate strongly preferred
- Graduate of a robust professional coach certification program. International Coach Federation (ICF) credential strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience in successfully leading the design and implementation of large scale development and change initiatives with varying degrees of complexity
- Experience consulting with senior leaders regarding whole-system, programmatic, and departmental strategic change efforts
- Experience implementing and operationalizing evidence-based development and change leadership and management models and frameworks
- Strong ability to understand research and integrate into practice
- Skilled at analyzing data to make strategic decisions, and to determine outcomes of programs, including ROI
- Experience and interest in contributing to the research base, publications, presentations and participation in professional organizations
- Demonstrated facilitation and consultative skills at all levels of system and excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience in managing and successfully developing a team of functional experts
- Ability to learn quickly, create internal partnerships, promote collaboration and recommend and implement strategies that fit and enhance the culture and integrate across the organization
- Prior experience working in the healthcare industry, particularly academic medicine, preferred
